Women Founders Residency [H1 2020 class #5] Application

In Europe, only 9% of CxO positions at startups and 6% of CEOs are female. Of all funds raised by European VC-backed companies in 2018, a staggering 93% went to all-male founding teams. Funding for all women teams is actually going down. There is no material improvement in the share of capital invested in European tech companies going to diverse founding teams. In fact, the share of capital invested in companies founded by women decreased in 2019 versus 2018. This means that in 2019, $92 in every $100 invested in Europe went to founding teams that were all men [Atomico 2019 report].

Google for Startups has been a vocal and active supporter of women founders with a broad offering of events, meetups and programs with the mission to level the playing field for founders all over the world. In 2019 we successfully ran our first cohort of women founded startups (read more about it on Forbes). Our mission is to reach 50% women representation in the startup ecosystem across all markets Google is active in and significantly increase the percentage of funding received by women-led startups.

Google for Startups Women Founders Residency is a 12-week program in Campus London designed to support women founded companies through their journey and to accelerate their growth by bringing the best of Google to them. We’re looking for London based startups with a specific need that Google is uniquely position to help solve within the duration of this program - this can be across business/sales, marketing, product, a specific tech problem, fund raising and more.

In the application form we will be asking you to articulate as clearly as possible what your need is and we will treat this as your program OKR to determine our success together [amazing resources here]. If we decide to progress to the interview stage, we will invite you to the opening mentoring day at Campus London to understand more about you, your mission and your business, your team culture and we will dive deeper into your program OKR.
